Release notes alpha 1.11.8
This is the first alpha release that includes animations.
Please note a few things before using:
- Animations may not make it to stable build for a long while, and may be tied to licensing. This is not yet decided.
- Animations have seen limited real-use testing and may not function properly for your needs yet.
- There are many things that are not (yet?) possible with animations, including animating within a ticker (e.g. transitions of the ticker).
- The only properties that can be animated are: translation (moving), scaling, skewing, rotation and opacity. You cannot animate things like colors, borders, or other properties.
How to use animations:
A very short guide:
- Add a new Animation theme item.
- Design the animation in the Animation Designer. Add different types of animations (translation, scale, rotation, etc), create keyframes and set their values to allow the animation to interpolate smoothly between keyframes.
- Set animation properties such as duration, repeats, reversal, etc.
- Test your animation on any widget in the Animation Designer.
- To apply an animation in the theme, use the Animations actions (Play, Pause, Stop) which can be triggered for example by a button.
- Actions can also be applied after the animation finishes, e.g. to hide the widget after the animation finishes playing.
