Is there a way to somehow add an animation for a position gained/lost? I've seen a few other networks have the position swap animation, I was wondering how to add it to a theme.

those are done with a different system that the editor.

It is done with hard coding the theme. So if you are using the editor it is not currently available to us. Unless that has changed and I have not seen info on it.

No, it has not changed. Tickers in the Theme Editor do not support animations for individual elements. I won't say it will never be supported, but it is not on my to do list currently as it does not work with the way the ticker is designed at the moment and will require considerable redesign.

I just saw the cool feature update that ATVO now supports animated GIFs on widgets.

So, in theory then, would it be possible to build a custom ticker manually by actually building a widget for each position you want to display, and then trigger a GIF animation based on a change in position? (for example to have the widget appear to slide out then back in again for any position that changes?

(I haven't looked at this in the software yet .. I'm just trying to figure out how I would most want to use it :)

I don't see how GIFs would help you there. You could in theory do that without GIFs and a ton of scripting... If you build a Widget for each driver and add animations to them I guess it could work but it would be a hell of a job to get it done.

Now that I finally managed to add GIF support I will move this item of animations within a Ticker back up my list, but don't hold your breath like I said it does not play well with the current system so it's unlikely I can get anything that works well.

Can anyone shed more light on how to do that then?

It is currently not possible unless you do it completely manually with scripts, which I would highly recommend you do not attempt unless you're very experienced or crazy :)
